– How to choose a therapist?

— Choosing a therapist can be difficult. There are many different therapists and styles of therapy out there, you will not jive with every single one and that is ok. I offer a free 15-minute consultation in person or over the phone to provide you the opportunity to test our fit. If you feel like we are a good fit, then we proceed, if not then we talk about what you need and how I can help you find another therapist.

– Do I need therapy?

— The short answer, yes! We all need therapy. No one makes it through life without experiencing some forms of trauma or struggle and that’s why therapists exist. And yes, even therapists see therapists, I do.

– What do you do in therapy?

— for more information, see the “About Me” section. The brief answer is we look for traumas and struggles that are making life difficult. Through processing and coping skills, you form new patterns and thoughts that improve your daily living.

– I am afraid of what I will uncover.

— This is a common fear and totally normal. During therapy, old memories or negative experiences can be uncovered, which can be scary. By working with a therapist, you will be assisted in facing your fear and conquering it.

– It’s too late for me.

— Absolutely not! There is no such thing as too late. Human beings are not fixed objectives, we have the amazing ability to grow and learn at any point in life. However, if you use such excuses to hold yourself back, then it will certainly feel that way. Never give up on yourself.

– I don’t need therapy, they (my parents, family, friends, etc.) need therapy.

— Yes, you are not wrong. Everyone should see a therapist, so they do not project their traumas onto others. However, we cannot make others attend and we can only focus and heal ourselves. By doing so, we can hope to have a positive impact on those around us.
